Après 74 jours d'absence, Paul Biya est de retour au Cameroun
The 93-year-old president landed late Thursday afternoon after a flight from Geneva, Switzerland. Although no official announcement had been made, activists from the ruling CPDM party were mobilized to prepare for his arrival. Paul Biya left Yaoundé airport, waving to the crowd from his car through the slightly open window.
CRTV, Cameroon's public radio and television broadcaster, deployed significant resources to cover the event, with nearly 200 people, from journalists to technicians, to broadcast the arrival and progress of the motorcade towards the presidential palace. In the end, Cameroonians gathered in front of their television screens barely saw their president. First, a fleeting wave from the presidential limousine, and a few minutes later, slightly delayed images of the presidential couple shaking hands with the Prime Minister and the Secretary General of the Presidency, gathered to welcome Paul and Chantal Biya at the foot of the plane.
What is the agenda now?
The limited public appearances of the president sparked considerable reaction on social media, ranging from criticism of the lack of images to satisfaction at the president's return. Paul Biya's return to Cameroonian soil brought to a close a period that had begun several weeks prior, fueled by often alarming rumors about the Cameroonian president's health. The head of state, re-elected in 2025 for his eighth term, had been absent for exactly 74 days, without any public appearances or statements.
A new phase is about to begin. It will focus on the immediate agenda of the head of state, again with much speculation.

Vraiment, Feu Ahmed Ahidjo s'est lourdement trompé mais de bonne foi. Il pensait connaitre son DirCab d'alors. Biya est un moins que rien et pire, ceux qui l'entourent en ce moment sont des charognards.
