Mauvaise surprise pour les internautes béninois : Les forfaits Internet illimités de 5000 FCFA/10000 FCFA brutalement supprimés
This is a real blow to Beninese internet users. Since Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the three mobile phone networks (MTN, MOOV, and Celtiis) have removed their unlimited internet plans for 5,000 and 10,000 FCFA from their price lists without warning. Now, the lowest price for an unlimited plan is 15,100 FCFA.
So far, no official from the three GSM networks has publicly spoken out or issued a statement to explain in detail the reasons for the suspension of the old 5000 FCFA and 10000 FCFA plans.
ARCEP called in to help
Meanwhile, anger is simmering among consumers. They are denouncing violations of their rights and calling on the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (ARCEP-Benin) for help.
It must be said that until March 31st, the institution still recorded packages with fair use at 5000 F and 10000 F at MTN and Moov Africa.
For 5000 F, both operators offered 11.6 GB with a speed of 1 Mbps after the initial data allowance was used up. For 10,000 F, MTN offered 23.3 GB and Moov Africa 23.2 GB, with the same remaining speed of 1 Mbps.
It is fair to remember that low-cost unlimited internet packages only appeared last February.
