Niger : Niamey prépare un dossier judiciaire international sur la tentative de déstabilisation
The Nigerien government intends to give a judicial and international dimension to the events that occurred on the night of August 28-29, 2026, particularly at Niamey Air Base 101.
The Council of Ministers announced the preparation of a case file with a view to possible actions before international courts.
According to the authorities, documentation has been gathered on what they describe as an "aggression" against Niger. Niamey accuses, in particular, elements of the Special Intelligence Battalion of the Special Operations Command (BSR-COS) of having participated in an operation with "international ramifications" and directly implicates France.
The government also claims that certain African actors have acted as intermediaries in this attempt at destabilization, which it presents as a threat to the country's sovereignty and its policy of controlling its resources.
He therefore reserves the right to take the matter to international justice to establish responsibility.
