Or du Mali : B2Gold obtient le permis d'exploitation de la grande mine de Menankoto-Sud
Meeting under the effective chairmanship of Army General Assimi Goita, the Council of Ministers adopted yesterday Friday 07 August, a draft decree granting B2Gold Mali Resources SARL the operating permit for the large Menankoto-Sud gold mine in the Cercle de Kéniéba (Kayes region).
The minutes of the government meeting recall that the "Menankoto-South exploration permit resulting from the merger by Decree of May 16, 2025 of the Bakolobi, Menankoto-South and Bantako-North exploration permits has been the subject of intense work which has made it possible to highlight an economically exploitable deposit in the form of a large mine".
In accordance with the provisions of the Mining Code and the law relating to Local Content in the mining sector, B2GOLD Mali Resources Sarl, a Malian exploration company, expressed its interest in developing the discovered deposit. The Malian government therefore decided to grant it this operating permit for a maximum period of 12 years.
18.4 billion FCFA paid to the State by the end of 2024
It should be noted that B2 GOLD is a Canadian multinational. Following the audit of the gold mines which revealed a shortfall of 300 to 600 billion FCFA for the State by the end of 2024, the company paid the Malian government 30 million dollars or 18.4 billion FCFA as "one-off tax adjustments".
