The Manantali and Félou Operating Company (SEMAF) announces imminent water releases at the Manantali dam.
In a press release, the company in charge of operating the dam informs that the Manantali reservoir is close to its maximum operating level and that it will release water during the week as soon as the lake level reaches the 208.05 m IGN level.
These releases will raise water levels in certain areas along the Senegal River. Therefore, all those whose activities are linked to water are asked to exercise extra caution in the affected areas. For the protection of people and their property, SEMAF urges residents living along the river to take all necessary precautions.
The cessation of releases will be the subject of a later statement.
According to the hydrological bulletin of October 12, 2026 at 08:00, the level at Manantali Amont Barrage is 207.82 m IGN compared to 208.28 m on the same date in 2025. The turbine flow rate is 317 m3/s.
At 207.82 m, the reservoir is now only 23 centimeters below the normal level of 208.05 m that will trigger water releases. The exceptional level is set at 211 m.
The populations of the valley, from Bakel to Saint-Louis via Matam and Podor, are called to be vigilant.
