Drame à Kaolack : un corps sans vie découvert dans le bras de mer de Lyndiane
A man in his fifties was found floating near the SONACOS factory. An investigation is underway.
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 12:45 PM, the Kaolack central police station was informed of the discovery of a lifeless body in the waters of the inlet that runs along the south side of the SONACOS factory in Lyndiane. Police officers immediately went to the scene.
According to information received by investigators, the body was first spotted floating on the water by fishermen. They then alerted the fire department, before the central police station was also informed.
Upon arrival, police determined that the body was that of a man, approximately 55 years old. The remains were in a state of decomposition. Investigators believe the body was likely damaged by the waves, which could explain its condition.
At the request of the authorities, the body was transported to the morgue of El Hadji Ibrahima Niasse Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed. This should determine the cause and circumstances of death.
Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane, head of the local prosecutor's office, was notified of the discovery. An investigation has been launched to shed light on this tragedy.
