[ EXCLUSIF] Trafic de drogue : un gendarme et son père arrêtés par la SR de Kaolack, plus de 2 kg saisis
The Kaolack Research Section (SR) dismantled a cannabis trafficking network involving a gendarme stationed in Bignona, his father, and two accomplices. The operation, launched following a tip-off, resulted in the seizure of two kilograms of cannabis, as well as 200,000 CFA francs paid by one of the suspects in an attempt to bribe investigators.
A denunciation that triggered the investigation
It all started with a tip-off about heavy drug trafficking in and around the village of Koutal. An anonymous source reported the suspicious behavior of Mr. Diallo, described as a mechanic but suspected of involvement in the trafficking. The Saloum Regional Investigation Service (SR) then deployed plainclothes officers to monitor the suspect's activities.
Two days after the surveillance began, Mr. Diallo was followed as he went to the home of S. Diallo, a notorious drug dealer, to whom he had just delivered a kilogram of cannabis. S. Diallo managed to escape through a back door, while Mr. Diallo was arrested on the spot.
Taken to the unit, Mr. Diallo identified gendarme A. Ka, alias Ameth, stationed in Bignona, as his supplier, through the latter's father, Al. Ka. According to the investigation, the gendarme obtained the drugs in the Bignona department, taking advantage of his position to avoid roadside checks, before having them transited through his father, who was responsible for handing them over to Mr. Diallo for distribution to S. Diallo.
A search was carried out in the cattle enclosure
A. Ka's investigation led to the discovery of a kilogram of Indian hemp hidden in bags of hay. On the verge of being arrested, he attempted to hand over 200,000 CFA francs to the gendarmes to avoid prosecution, a sum that was immediately seized, according to Seneweb sources.
S. Diallo, for his part, was arrested at his home in possession of two packets of marijuana, which he attempted to scatter in front of investigators. Gendarme A. Ka was eventually apprehended in Bignona by the Ziguinchor Research Section, where a search of his room led to the seizure of an additional 300 grams of marijuana, scales, and a vehicle used to transport the drugs.
Confrontation and confessions
When confronted, the suspects finally cleared up the unanswered questions in the case. Gendarme A. Ka admitted to owning the marijuana found at his father's home, and also to instructing M. Diallo to deliver S. Diallo. His father, Al. Ka, confirmed that he had acted on his son's instructions.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the four members of the network, including A. Ka, Al. Ka, M. Diallo, and S. Diallo, were brought before Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane, head of the Saloum High Court, on charges of criminal conspiracy, trafficking and possession of cannabis, and attempted bribery, according to Seneweb sources. They were remanded in custody and will be tried this Wednesday under the summary procedure.
