A 38-year-old father has been charged with first-degree murder in Florida, two years after the death of his six-month-old baby. Investigators believe he caused fatal injuries to his child using a leaf blower.

According to police, the child was only two months old when James Westervelt, 38, allegedly blew air on him dangerously with a leaf blower, simply for fun.
The man is due to appear in court next September.
The injured baby was placed on life support, but died in hospital in August 2024. According to the media outlet WAFF 48, his death was caused by blunt force trauma resulting from violent jolts or rebounds.
Westervelt, who was already facing child abuse charges in connection with the fatal incident, remains in custody in Marion County and is scheduled to appear in court again next September.
Furthermore, according to court documents, the man was charged last May with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
