General policy statement: President Diomaye Faye congratulates Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo

Last Tuesday, Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo addressed the National Assembly to deliver his "brilliant" General Policy Statement. Then, on Thursday, during the Council of Ministers meeting held at the Presidential Palace, President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye offered him his congratulations. The Head of State also commended the members of the Government for the clarity and precision of the roadmap presented, as well as for the comprehensiveness of the projects, reforms, and actions undertaken and planned.

"Furthermore, he asks the Prime Minister to ensure the effective implementation of sectoral reforms and announced actions, with a view to addressing the legitimate aspirations of the people," reads the statement received.

In this context, the Head of State emphasized three major imperatives. First, the increased protection of household purchasing power. Second, the strategic control of public finances, as well as the organization and operating costs of the State in all its dimensions. Finally, the optimal presence and sustained efficiency of public services throughout the national territory.

Furthermore, he instructed the government to emphasize the territorialization of public policies, with the involvement of elected officials and other community actors at the grassroots level, in the design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of project execution.

The implementation of sectoral reforms and announced actions is required.

Diomaye Faye also spoke about accelerating the relaunch of high-impact sectoral projects. These projects concern citizenship, education, and vocational and technical training. They also address opening up production areas and food sovereignty, and extend to industrialization, employment, and entrepreneurship for young people and women, with the development of agropoles, special economic zones, and the social economy. Finally, they aim to improve the well-being of the population by strengthening universal access to water, electricity, and digital services, and by enhancing the provision of quality healthcare.

In this regard, the Head of State welcomed the receipt of 153 medically equipped ambulances intended to improve the care of patients throughout the national territory, with a view to strengthening access to healthcare.

"Finally, underlining the extreme urgency of accelerating the deployment of social housing development and construction programs accessible to target populations, the President of the Republic asked the Prime Minister to review the procedures for making DMC loans available, within the framework of the new policy for promoting housing and decent living conditions," it was announced.
