LFR : AYIB DAFFÉ DÉNONCE LA COUPE DES CRÉDITS DESTINÉS À LA RÉSORPTION DES ABRIS PROVISOIRES
The elimination of temporary shelters in schools has become a focal point of disagreement between the government and Pastef party members of parliament regarding the supplementary budget law. During his party's press conference this Sunday, the president of the Pastef parliamentary group, Ayib Daffé, deplored the elimination of funding allocated to this program, which he considers essential for reducing educational inequalities and guaranteeing equal opportunities.
"We cannot sacrifice education," he argued, recalling that the elimination of temporary shelters is, in his view, a national priority.
The parliamentarian asserts that Pastef MPs have no interest in obstructing government action and are not refusing dialogue. Their opposition focuses instead on budgetary choices whose consequences, he argues, could negatively impact the population.
Ayib Daffé acknowledges the value of family security grants designed to support Senegalese people facing economic hardship. However, he believes that financial assistance cannot replace essential investments in public services.
"Giving money to Senegalese people to relieve their suffering is a good idea, but giving them this money without having schools to learn in, hospitals to treat them and roads to move around on is not relevant," he argues in essence.
It is precisely this prioritization of needs that is at the heart of the disagreement between the government and the Pastef party members of parliament. Beyond social transfers, the latter advocate for maintaining structural investments in education, health, and infrastructure, which they deem essential for the sustainable improvement of living conditions for Senegalese people.
