Thiès : Les Boucliers de Diomaye accusent Sonko de déloyauté envers le chef de l’État
Criticism is mounting regarding the relationship between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and his Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko. In Thiès, Abdou Aziz Sarr, a member of Diomaye's supporters, denounces what he considers a serious breach of trust following the Pastef leader's statements on the public debt.
In a statement devoted to the economic and social situation in Senegal, Abdou Aziz Sarr criticizes Ousmane Sonko for having admitted, during his recent press conference, to having taken the initiative to speak about the hidden debt without first seeking the authorization of the head of state.
"This attitude constitutes a serious breach of trust and can be considered politically as an act of disloyalty towards the President of the Republic," he believes.
For the member of the Diomaye Shields of Thiès, a communication on a subject as sensitive as public finances requires consultation at the highest level of the State, given its possible repercussions on the financial credibility of Senegal, its partners and the conditions for financing the economy.
Abdou Aziz Sarr also points to what he calls inconsistencies in Ousmane Sonko's economic discourse. He believes that the guidelines of the Economic and Social Recovery Plan (PRES), led under his responsibility as Prime Minister, must also be subjected to an objective evaluation, particularly with regard to their effects on purchasing power, businesses, and the cost of living.
According to him, leaders must take responsibility for their decisions and be accountable for their results. Economic recovery, he argues, should not become a tool for permanent political confrontation, but should translate into concrete measures for the benefit of the people.
The call to avoid a budgetary paralysis
Beyond the relations between the two heads of the executive and legislative branches, Abdou Aziz Sarr expresses his concerns about the prospect of a parliamentary blockage around the Amending Finance Law (LFR) of 2026 and the Initial Finance Law (LFI) of 2027.
He calls on MPs to prioritize dialogue on the issue of the framework for special credits, believing that a prolonged blockage could compromise the execution of public programs, delay essential spending and weaken economic recovery efforts.
While acknowledging the legitimacy of parliamentary oversight, he urged elected officials to seek a solution that complies with existing laws and respects the respective prerogatives of Parliament and the Executive. He also called on labor unions to continue discussions with the government and to consider a suspension of social tensions. He clarified, however, that this approach does not infringe upon workers' rights but aims to preserve economic stability and the continuity of public services.
Finally, with the Dakar-2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) approaching, the Diomaye Shields of Thiès are calling for the overcoming of political divisions to guarantee the success of this event, which will be organized for the first time on the African continent.
