Les personnes qui dorment ce nombre d’heures par nuit ont des chances de vieillir plus vite que les autres
A study has revealed that sleep duration can impact biological aging. People who sleep this many hours each day are more likely to develop illnesses and age rapidly.
Sleep patterns influence not only a person's physical fitness but also their lifespan. Besides causing prolonged fatigue, sleeping too much or too little can impact mortality and lead to accelerated aging. A study published in Nature showed that sleeping more than eight hours a night is far from beneficial for the human body.
Sleeping "too much" significantly accelerates biological and neurological aging. Conversely, the graph showing sleep duration demonstrates that sleeping less than 6 hours per night is also detrimental to health.
These data illustrate a notable correlation between the body and the brain. "This overall link between the brain and the body is important because it tells us that sleep duration is deeply rooted in our physiology, with considerable repercussions on the entire organism," noted Junhao Wen, one of the study's researchers.
The right sleep rhythm to adopt
According to the graph, sleeping between 6 and 7 hours a night is the most beneficial for the body. This puts less strain on biological cells and thus protects the body in the long term. Exceeding this range can lead to numerous health problems, such as digestive disorders or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The researcher indicated on the social network X that sleep disorders could lead to illnesses or a "common genetic architecture." "Short sleep duration appears to have a broader systemic impact, while long sleep duration is associated with a more localized pathological burden, more concentrated in the brain."
