The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, officially launched the commissioning of the highway linking Thiadiaye to Mbour, believing that this infrastructure constitutes an important lever to improve the mobility of people and goods, particularly during the Gamou period.
"This road is particularly important for the mobility of our fellow citizens," he rejoiced, while emphasizing its interest for the populations of Thiadiaye, Ndiaganiao, Mbour, Sandiara and surrounding localities.
The Head of State also welcomed the early opening of the highway. While its delivery was initially scheduled for the end of September, the infrastructure is now open to traffic, facilitating the movement of the many faithful traveling to different locations for the Gamou celebration.
Bassirou Diomaye Faye also highlighted the quality of cooperation between Senegal and China, which made this project possible thanks to joint financing with Eximbank China.
The construction was carried out with the participation of Senegalese subcontractors alongside the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). The Head of State thanked the Chinese authorities and reaffirmed Senegal's commitment to continuing this partnership, presented as one of the country's main areas of cooperation.
He also congratulated the relevant ministries, particularly the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Land and Air Transport, for helping to accelerate the completion of the project.
Furthermore, according to President Faye, this highway aligns with the government's policy of territorializing public initiatives. Beyond simply creating development hubs, the aim is to facilitate exchanges within and between these hubs.
"Beyond the hubs that are being built, we need to facilitate the movement of people and goods within and between hubs," he said.
According to him, the positive effects of the infrastructure should be felt in the daily lives of the people of the different communities served, in particular by improving their access to economic and administrative centers.
The Head of State also stressed the need for regular maintenance of the highway. He commended Ageroute and Autoroutes du Sénégal (ADS) for their involvement in the project, while urging them to ensure the infrastructure's preservation.
Bassirou Diomaye Faye also invited users to adopt a civic and citizen-like behavior in order to preserve this structure financed by the community and intended to serve current and future generations.
"We have every interest in extending its lifespan as much as possible," he stressed, recalling that the population will contribute to its financing and maintenance through tolls and other mechanisms.

Des agents payés à ne rien faire
