Bientôt 2 ans d’existence : le Pool judiciaire financier dévoile un bilan de 750 dossiers traités et plus de 100 milliards de FCFA saisis
Invited to the program "Sans filtre", hosted by journalist P. Niang, the prosecutor of the Financial Judicial Pool, El Hadji Alioune Abdoulaye Sylla, gave a detailed report on the first two years of activity of his jurisdiction.
A statistical overview just days before the anniversary
From the outset, the prosecutor was keen to set the context: "First, I must thank God, because on this very day, September 17, 2026, the Financial Judicial Pool will complete its two years of effective operation."
He then detailed the volume of work accomplished during this period: “During these two years, we had to take a number of actions and process a number of cases. We processed 750 cases, of which 610 are pending before the investigating magistrates. This led to the arrest of 1,391 people, apprehended and brought before the Financial Judicial Pool.”
A complex justice system, according to the prosecutor
When asked about the future prospects of the Financial Judicial Pool, the prosecutor expressed optimism: "It may well have a bright future, because it is a young jurisdiction, which is growing, and which will mature as the entire support system for this type of specialized jurisdiction is put in place. I think a real future awaits the Financial Judicial Pool."
Faced with criticism of his jurisdiction, he emphasized a quality he considers essential to his role: "I tell you that the first character trait of a magistrate must be serenity in all circumstances."
Finally, when asked about the real impact of his institution on governance and transparency in Senegal, as its second anniversary approached, El Hadji Alioune Abdoulaye Sylla responded frankly: “I think the impact is real, because the legal proceedings initiated by the Financial Judicial Pool and the High Court of Justice demonstrate a concern for accountability and transparency. The investigations related to the audit of the Court of Auditors are a good indicator of this, showing the Senegalese state's commitment to transparency and accountability.”
He also highlighted the attention paid by international partners to the work of his jurisdiction: “In addition, technical and financial partners now include a visit or working sessions with the Financial Judicial Pool on their agenda every time they travel to Senegal. Since I took office, I have received part of the IMF delegation on each trip to Senegal, and we have held discussions with them; the last one was about two weeks ago.”
He concluded: "This shows that this concern for transparency and accountability is a real preoccupation of the State of Senegal, with an impact at all levels."
