Diamaguène: Two suspects arrested after a burglary and the alleged rape of a minor

A particularly sensitive case is at the heart of an investigation at the Diamaguène Sicap Mbao district police station. Two individuals have been arrested as part of a procedure involving, among other things, alleged acts of rape of a minor and aggravated robbery committed at night with breaking and entering.

The incident dates back to the night of Monday to Tuesday, September 15, around 4 a.m., in an apartment located in the Biafra district of Diamaguène.

According to information released by the National Police, a 15-year-old boy was alone at his uncle's home, who was not present at the time. The boy was reportedly awakened by two individuals who broke into the apartment after smashing a window.

According to the complaint filed by the victim's uncle, one of the two individuals allegedly forced the teenager to undress at knifepoint before committing the alleged rape. Meanwhile, his accomplice reportedly acted as a lookout outside.

After the alleged assault, the two individuals reportedly entered the apartment and took several items, including kitchen utensils, wigs, a fan, a suitcase containing clothes, and a gas cylinder.

The investigation opened following the complaint saw progress on September 17.

Around noon, a citizen contacted the police after his nephew reportedly recognized one of the suspects in the neighborhood. Officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit immediately went to the scene and arrested two individuals.

During his hearing, one of the accused reportedly admitted to the theft, while denying the rape allegations.

Analysis of his statements then allowed investigators to trace the crime back to his alleged accomplice. The latter also reportedly admitted his involvement in the burglary, while claiming he was unaware of the sexual assault allegedly committed by his accomplice.

The investigations also made it possible to recover almost all of the items that were believed to have been stolen during the burglary.

Only the gas cylinder remains missing. According to the statements of the two suspects, it was hidden on the roof of a shack before disappearing.

The two individuals thus remain at the heart of the investigation conducted by the police services, who will notably have to determine the responsibilities of each in the various reported events.
