Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao : Un élève de 11 ans repêché mort dans un puits
A tragedy has struck the Sam Sam 2 neighborhood of Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao. Eleven-year-old S. Sarr, a primary school student, lost his life after falling into a 12-meter-deep well located on a property near the neighborhood's retention basin. His body was recovered by his father, assisted by local residents, according to Seneweb sources.
The tragedy occurred on the evening of June 14, 2026, when several children, including S. Sarr, were in a concession in the Sam Sam 2 district to draw water from a well covered with zinc sheets.
It was in these circumstances that a tenant heard a suspicious noise coming from the metal sheets covering the well. Having a premonition that a child might have fallen in, she raised the alarm.
S. Sarr's father rushed to the scene. With the help of local residents, he pulled his son, who had already passed away, from the body.
Around 8:30 p.m., the Sam Sam 2 neighborhood chief contacted the Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao district police station. Officers who arrived at the scene conducted a preliminary examination of the body, which revealed foam around the mouth and nostrils, with no apparent injuries: signs characteristic of drowning. Firefighters then transported the body to the morgue at the Idrissa Pouye General Hospital in Grand-Yoff for an autopsy.
An investigation has been opened.
