Tivaouane-Peulh: He steals a motorcycle during prayer, has an accident, and ends up in prison despite a double fracture

A motorcycle theft turned into a nightmare for Mr. Diop, who was apprehended by the local police in Tivaouane Peulh. This 22-year-old sheet metal worker, residing in the Darou Salam neighborhood, is suspected of stealing a Jakarta motorcycle belonging to I. Faye. Theft during prayer

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, around 5 p.m., I. Faye parked his motorcycle in front of the Tivaouane Peulh mosque to perform the "Takussane" prayer. This moment of devotion would prove costly: when he left, his motorcycle was nowhere to be seen. Gone . But his thief wouldn't get far.

Indeed , during his escape, the thief, Mr. Diop, was involved in a serious accident near the Tivaouane Peulh health post. Injured, he was taken to the emergency room at Dalal Jamm Hospital in Guédiawaye. It was precisely this accident that would prove fatal. Spotted at the scene with the stolen motorcycle, I. Faye was able to identify his property and, at the same time, its thief.

Double fracture and surgery

At the hospital, Mr. Diop suffered a double fracture, in his left leg and hand. He underwent surgery on his left foot. It was only after his discharge from the hospital on September 8, 2026, that investigators from the local gendarmerie brigade in Tivaouane Peulh arrested him for questioning, according to Seneweb sources. When questioned by the gendarmes, Mr. Diop admitted to the charges against him and pleaded for leniency. His pleas were in vain.

He was brought before prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office, yesterday Wednesday, who placed him under a detention order.
