ZAC Mbao: A blackmailer arrested with 230 obscene videos and 41 photographs contrary to public decency

Digital identity theft, blackmail, and cybercrime in ZAC Mbao. On October 1, 2026, the ZAC Mbao district police station detained an individual suspected of digital identity theft, illegal collection of personal data, possession of indecent images, threats to distribute obscene videos, and sexual blackmail. This followed a complaint filed by one of his victims.

She stated that she had met someone online whose profile displayed a photo of a woman named "Angela". After several exchanges, she sent this person, at her request, intimate videos in exchange for the promise of 500,000 CFA francs.

The situation then took a turn for the worse. The man threatened to release the videos if the complainant refused to have sex with a third party. This third party was actually a man named "Angela." It was following these demands that the victim received a call from him.

Pretending to accept the proposal, the complainant arranged to meet him on October 1, 2026, at 6:00 PM, in front of a building located in the Mbao business park. This allowed the investigation unit to arrest the suspect at the scene.

Confessions in the face of evidence

When questioned briefly, he initially denied the allegations before admitting them when investigators discovered several sexually explicit videos of women on his phone, including those of the complainant.

A thorough examination of the mobile phone revealed a hidden application, presented as "Calculator." It contained 230 obscene videos and 41 indecent photographs depicting women whose identities are still being established. At this stage of the investigation, six victims have been formally identified, including one who resides in France.

The police also discovered several other fake accounts using female profiles. The exact identities and level of involvement of the individuals concerned are being verified, but the person in question is likely the sole owner of these accounts.

The investigation continues in order to dismantle the entire network and identify any other possible victims.
