Ziguinchor : ultimatum du Préfet pour libérer les abords du marché Boucotte
In Ziguinchor, the days of overflowing food stalls, stands, and carts lining the city's main avenues are numbered. The Prefect of the Ziguinchor Department, Latyr Ndiaye, announced that a complete clearing of the area around the Boucotte market will take place during the first half of October 2026. Owners of commercial establishments occupying the spaces along Djignabo and Émile Badiane Avenues are ordered to remove them by October 5th at the latest.

Failing that, the Administration will proceed with clearing the premises itself starting October 6th. The first phase of operations will concern Djignabo Avenue, from the Total ESSO (CBAO) station to the Peace Hospital, as well as Émile Badiane Avenue, from the Bélaly roundabout to the Post Office. This measure applies to stalls extending more than 1.5 meters beyond the street, tables, and carts commonly known as "pushcarts."

The Prefect emphasizes the necessity of this action to ease traffic congestion and improve urban mobility in a strategic area of Ziguinchor. He calls for the understanding and cooperation of the public so that these operations can be carried out calmly and efficiently.
