Sur la route de Touba 2026 : quand solidarité et sécurité routière accompagnent les fidèles
As millions of pilgrims gradually return home after celebrating the Grand Magal of Touba this Sunday, August 2nd, it's time for the teams deployed on the ground to take stock. For this 132nd edition, the Yango technology platform renewed its civic initiative by mobilizing its teams along major roads to combine water distribution with road safety awareness campaigns.

Every year, the road leading to the holy city becomes the stage for a unique outpouring of faith and solidarity. Millions of pilgrims travel for miles to celebrate the legacy of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba. While this journey is imbued with fervor, it also represents a major logistical and human challenge, where fatigue and heavy traffic demand constant vigilance.
It is in this context of high attendance that the platform has committed to placing safety and mutual support at the heart of its presence throughout the event.
Concrete support and the tradition of "Berndé" on the roads
The images captured during the pilgrimage show a striking observation: despite the intense heat, the reception at the distribution points set up by the brand was particularly warm.
True to the Berndé tradition, the Yango teams on the ground distributed thousands of bottles of water to drivers and families traveling to Touba. This simple yet essential gesture of hospitality allowed drivers to make regular stops and regain their focus before getting back behind the wheel. "Driving to Touba during the Magal requires constant attention due to traffic jams and the heat. Having a bottle of cold water and exchanging a few words of encouragement really gives you the energy to finish the journey safely," said Modou, a partner driver traveling the Magal route.
Prevention at the heart of the discussions
Beyond simply providing refreshments, these stops offered an opportunity for direct dialogue with motorists. Teams mobilized to share practical road safety advice: raising awareness of the risks associated with fatigue and speeding, reminding drivers to wear seatbelts, and emphasizing the importance of respecting traffic laws. At a time when caution remains paramount, these close interactions served as a reminder that road safety is everyone's responsibility.

“The Magal is a moment of intense unity for Senegal, but it is also a period when safety on our roads must be strengthened. Our role does not stop at offering mobility solutions: we have a duty to support our fellow citizens, to watch over their journey and to embody the values of mutual aid and Teranga that make our country strong,” recalls Aïcha Niang , Country Manager at Yango Senegal.
A reaffirmed commitment to civic engagement
With this renewed initiative, Yango demonstrates that technology and mobility must first and foremost serve people and the community. By ensuring the safe travel of Senegalese people during this major spiritual event, the company reaffirms its commitment to being a responsible economic player, firmly rooted in the landscape and traditions of Senegal.
