Crédit Mutuel du Sénégal (CMS) is continuing its digital transformation strategy with the gradual implementation of electronic signatures, in partnership with Orbus Digital Services-Groupe Gaindé 2000. This new solution represents a significant step in the digitization of the financial institution's processes. It aims to simplify procedures, streamline processes, and allow members to carry out certain transactions remotely, from a phone or computer. The official signing of this partnership agreement took place on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Dakar, in the presence of the CEO of CMS, Mr. Amadou Jean-Jacques Diop, and the CEO of Orbus Digital Services (ODS), Mr. Daniel Gercou Sarr.

A new step in digital transformation

In recent years, Crédit Mutuel du Sénégal (CMS) has developed several digital services, including remote account opening, mobile money transactions, virtual prepaid cards, remote deposits, QR code payments, and bill payments via CMS Mobile. Electronic signatures further enhance this ecosystem by enabling the digital signing of documents such as contracts, agreements, and forms.

The system relies on a secure process of identification, consultation, validation, sealing, time-stamping, and subsequent storage of the signed document. This development should contribute to a gradual reduction in document printing and travel related to physical signatures, while strengthening the security, traceability, and efficiency of the processes.

A technological building block to support future pathways

This electronic signature is also a component of the CMS's future digital pathways, notably the Express Digital Credit service. This service, intended for eligible members, will leverage several elements of the CMS's digital ecosystem: remote account opening, mobile CMS, process automation, and electronic signatures. The goal is to reduce the time between a loan request and its approval, while respecting the institution's eligibility and management rules. Other innovations are also planned.

For the CMS, digital transformation is a natural extension of its cooperative model, which is based on proximity, accessibility, and trust. The ambition is to offer an omnichannel model, allowing members to choose how they interact with the institution: in person at a branch, via mobile, or through progressively digitized processes.

Electronic signatures thus mark a new stage in a trajectory moving from the digitalization of daily operations to the progressive dematerialization of processes and contracts.

"Banking proximity is no longer solely geographical."

According to the CEO of CMS, banking proximity is no longer solely geographical. “Banking proximity is no longer just geographical. It is also becoming digital. CMS’s digital transformation is part of a gradual evolution of its relationship model with its members. The goal is not simply to offer more digital services. It is about building, step by step, a new financial ecosystem that allows members to access their accounts with greater simplicity, freedom, and proximity,” emphasized Mr. Amadou Jean-Jacques Diop.

He adds: "Tomorrow, this architecture must allow the CMS to offer new experiences. The transformation thus becomes a lever to broaden access to the cooperative model and respond to new financial uses."

Amadou Jean-Jacques Diop also points out that this digital transformation does not only concern clients who are already members of the CMS but aims to facilitate access to the cooperative model.

A transformation in the service of inclusion

The digitalization of the CMS also pursues an ambition of financial inclusion with the opening of remote accounts which facilitates access to the status of cooperator.

In this regard, Mr. Papa Tété Diadhiou, Director of Digital Financial Services at CMS, stated that digital technology does not erase the identity of CMS but rather fits into its continuity.
