JOJ Dakar 2026 : L'hommage appuyé d'Israël au savoir-faire sénégalais !
Alongside the sporting events of the Youth Olympic Games, the president of the Israeli Olympic Committee, Yael Arad, gave a very positive assessment of the Senegalese organization. Impressed by the opening ceremony at the Abdoulaye-Wade Stadium in Diamniadio and impressed by the quality of the infrastructure provided to the youth of Dakar, the former Olympic medalist announced the start of strategic discussions with the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSS) to build a partnership focused on performance technologies, sports medicine, and the scientific preparation of athletes.
The opening ceremony of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) not only marked a historic first for the African continent, but also made a strong impression on the foreign delegations. The president of the Israeli Olympic Committee, Yael Arad, warmly praised the success of this inaugural event, which highlighted Senegal's rich cultural heritage while demonstrating its operational capacity to host a major international sporting event.
Held on Saturday, October 31st at the Abdoulaye-Wade Stadium in Diamniadio, the ceremony blended artistic performances, music, dance, and symbols of Senegalese and African heritage. The event brought together over a thousand artists and actors in a masterful production celebrating youth, cultural diversity, and Olympic ideals. For Senegal, this opening ceremony was a crucial test in the eyes of the international community, marking the start of the first Olympic Games to be held on African soil.
Beyond the spectacle and the participation of its eleven athletes, the Israeli leader emphasized the lasting legacy these Games will leave. Yael Arad believes that the modern infrastructure built and renovated for the occasion represents the true long-term benefit for Senegalese youth. According to her, these facilities offer young local talents privileged access to high-level sports and optimal training conditions to prepare for major future international competitions.
Based on this observation, Israel is considering expanding its relations with Senegal through enhanced scientific and technical cooperation. The former Olympic judo silver medalist confirmed that she had included this topic on the agenda of her official meeting with the president of the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSS). "We will discuss our collaboration and how we can explore working together," she explained.
This potential partnership is particularly strategic for Senegalese sport, at a time when sports medicine, scientific preparation, and physiological optimization are becoming essential at the highest level of competition. The Israeli expertise highlighted by Yael Arad encompasses mental preparation, sports nutrition, physiotherapy, and protocols for adapting to extreme weather conditions. Although no formal agreement has yet been signed, these discussions open a promising avenue for collaboration between the two Olympic bodies.
