Kaolack : Contrôles jugés abusifs et cambriolages récurrents, le cri du cœur des boutiquiers détaillants
The Kaolack Retailers Association has expressed its deep concern regarding the difficulties faced by its members, exacerbated by what it considers excessive trade controls. Seizures of goods, exorbitant fines, coupled with the prevailing insecurity in Kaolack, including several attacks on their shops: they are appealing to the Senegalese government for help.
Trade officials, by issuing fines often considered unjustified, are jeopardizing the viability of many small businesses, already weakened by a difficult economic climate. Members of the association deplore an alarming rise in insecurity, resulting in recurring nighttime burglaries. "We can't go a night without hearing about new burglaries. This creates a climate of constant anxiety and endangers not only our property, but also our lives," said Alioune Badara Ndiaye, the spokesperson for the day.
