Mbodiène : 360 kg de chanvre indien saisis par la gendarmerie, un trafiquant présumé interpellé
As part of the plan to combat drug trafficking, the gendarmerie seized 360 kg of cannabis, divided into twelve packages, in Mbodiène. A motorcycle was also confiscated and one individual arrested. The operation was conducted jointly by the Joal territorial brigade, the Mbour research brigade, the Nianing local brigade, and the Sandiara surveillance and intervention squadron.
Alerted to a likely shipment of cannabis landing on the Mbodiène coastline, the gendarmes of the Mbour company set up a surveillance operation that led to the identification of five individuals, each carrying a package. Alerted by the presence of law enforcement, they fled, abandoning their cargo. One of them was, however, apprehended.
The search continued on the other side of the lagoon, where seven more packages, hidden under bushes, were discovered. The total number of packages seized has thus risen to twelve. The investigation is ongoing.
