Abdoulaye Maiga: "President Tebboune reiterated that Algeria will never interfere in Mali's internal affairs."

Abdoulaye Maiga : « Le président Tebboune a réitéré que l’Algérie ne s’ingèrera jamais dans les affaires intérieures du Mali »

The Malian Prime Minister, Major General Abdoulaye Maiga, paid a working visit to Algeria yesterday, Monday, August 24. He was received in audience by the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

After the meeting, the Malian official told the media that he was carrying a message from the President of the Malian Transition, Army General Assimi Goita, to his Algerian counterpart.

In this message, the Malian leader thanks Mr. Tebboune for inviting him to make an official visit to Algeria.

Mali and Algeria condemned to live together

He "considers this a sign of consideration, a sign of affection towards him and the Malian people." The dates of this next visit will be set through diplomatic channels.

Regarding the meeting itself, Abdoulaye Maiga stated that President Tebboune was fully aware of the situation between the two states. He understands that Mali and Algeria are united by geography and destined to live together and "work towards the prosperity of both peoples."

We must "make the region a haven of peace, a region free from all forms of neocolonialism"

The Malian Prime Minister also indicated that President Tebboune was aware of the challenges facing the Sahel region.

He agrees with his Malian counterpart that it is necessary to "make this region a haven of peace, a region free from all forms of neo-colonialism, from all forms of hegemony, a prosperous region free from terrorism."

"It is at this price that development will be firmly established and will benefit our brave people," assured the Malian Prime Minister.

President Tebboune also reiterated that his country "will never interfere in the internal affairs of Mali" and that he will ensure that "respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs are prerequisites, foundations of this shared vision of making the (Sahelian) region a haven of peace."
