Algérie : Le président Tebboune évoque les relations avec le Niger et le Mali
Members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), Niger and Mali have warmed their relations with Algeria after the Tinzaouatène incident in April 2025. Niamey is leading several projects with Algiers in areas such as mining, energy etc.
In his periodic interview broadcast on Saturday, October 3rd on Algerian television channels, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stated that his country supported the development of Niger.
"To make common sense prevail"
He also mentioned the military aid provided to the country. This aid materialized in the form of Algerian military aircraft being sent to Niamey during the subversive mutiny of August 2026.
We intervened "to defend our friends and our common interests," the old leader explained.
Regarding Mali, President Tebboune indicated that Algeria does not interfere in the country's internal affairs. It has, in the past, acted as a mediator in the Malian crisis and remains ready should it be called upon "to ensure that common sense prevails."
"We stand in full solidarity with Mali in the fight against the last strongholds of active terrorism in the Sahel," he added.
