Aliko Dangote : « Avoir un enfant de sexe masculin n’est pas ma priorité »
Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, states it unequivocally: having a son has never been his priority.
The Nigerian billionaire says he is fully satisfied with the three daughters God has given him, challenging a still deeply ingrained misconception on the continent.
For the industrial magnate, the birth of a boy in no way guarantees the continuity or success of the family fortune.
“Having a male child is not my priority. You can pray for a son, and that same son could be the one who brings ruin to the family. God controls everything, and if God doesn’t give you something, don’t force things,” said Aliko Dangote.
Displaying absolute confidence in his heirs, the businessman added: "And I don't think a son would have done better than the three daughters I have."
With these statements, the billionaire directly challenges a tradition prevalent in many African societies, where the presence of a male heir is often seen as essential to perpetuating the family name, fortune, and heritage. By highlighting his daughters' leadership and skills, Dangote sends a powerful message about the importance of individual worth and ability, far beyond gender considerations.
