Burkina Faso : Ibrahim Traoré critique la mauvaise compréhension de la religion
On the occasion of the Day of School Excellence, the Burkinabe President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, denounced what he calls a "misunderstanding of religion", which he believes is likely to limit critical thinking.
According to him, this distorted interpretation of religion has notably contributed to the rise of terrorism, with some fighters convinced that they would receive rewards after their death.
"Misunderstanding religion makes us stupid. It completely shuts down our brains. We can no longer think. It is this misunderstanding that has led to terrorism, since they are convinced that they will go to heaven after their death and that they will have 70 virgins," he said.
The Head of State also lamented that African societies had, in his view, often rejected or ignored their own spiritual figures and "guides," while God had sent many prophets and guides to black people.
"God sent many prophets and guides to us Black people. But unfortunately, we spent our time killing them. We never recognized our guides, we never recognized our prophets," said Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

☦️ Christianisme orthodoxe — c’est la religion historiquement dominante, principalement représentée par l’Église orthodoxe russe. Elle est particulièrement présente dans la partie européenne de la Russie.
