Burkina Faso : l’ex-ministre Lionel Bilgo placé sous mandat de dépôt
Former Minister of National Education Lionel Bilgo and the executive director of a real estate company were placed under arrest warrant on August 28, 2026 by the Bobo-Dioulasso prosecutor's office.
They and their company are being prosecuted for illegally engaging in land development and real estate advertising without prior authorization. The investigation revealed, in particular, the sale of undeveloped plots of land on three sites totaling 213 hectares, even though their company's permit only authorized the construction of housing developments.
The prosecutor's office reminds the public that these offenses can result in up to 10 years imprisonment and heavy fines. The case will be heard on September 4, 2026.
