Cameroun : quatre journalistes libérés après cinq jours de garde à vue
Four Cameroonian journalists were released on September 21, 2026, after five days in custody in Yaoundé, without any charges being brought against them.
Arrested on September 16 at the Palais des Congrès while covering the closing ceremony of the Islamic Development Bank Group's annual conference, they were initially suspected of being linked to the disappearance of Economy Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey's glasses. However, the glasses were found intact the following day in the minister's personal vehicle.
The proceedings then continued around a suspicion of "unauthorized intrusion" into a closed-door meeting.
Presented to the prosecutor's office on September 18, the journalists were subjected to further investigations before their release.
