Côte d’Ivoire : un bar découvert au sein d’un collège privé
A joint operation conducted by authorities in Bouaké uncovered a surprising clandestine activity. A bar selling alcoholic beverages and hookahs was operating within a private school in the Air France district.
A shocking discovery has shaken the educational community in Ivory Coast's second largest city. On Monday, October 5, 2026, during an operation supervised by the Deputy Regional Director of Commerce, Menan Bernard, law enforcement and inspection services discovered a fully operational bar inside the private school "Les Leaders," located in the Air France district of Bouaké.
On site, officers discovered large stocks of alcoholic beverages as well as equipment dedicated to the consumption of shisha.
This establishment contravenes hygiene and safety rules, but also violates decree no. 0111 of the Ministry of National Education and Training, which strictly prohibits the operation of drinking establishments and nighttime entertainment venues in the immediate vicinity or within the premises of educational structures.
Given the seriousness of the situation, health and administrative measures were implemented swiftly:
Immediate seizure: All alcoholic beverages and shisha equipment were confiscated by the competent authorities.
Closure of the establishment: An immediate administrative closure of the private school has been ordered by the authorities.
Legal proceedings: Proceedings have been initiated against the bar managers and school officials. The case has been forwarded to the public prosecutor at the Bouaké Court of First Instance to establish criminal liability.
