In Guinea, the government signed a basic agreement with the Nimba Mining Company yesterday, Wednesday, August 5, 2026. This framework agreement allows the company, the first mining company wholly owned by the State, to carry out the extraction and marketing of Guinean bauxite on international markets.
For the authorities, this convention establishes a stable legal framework for the development of Guinea's bauxite heritage while strengthening local content.
"One day we will end up processing aluminum on Guinean soil."
His signing marks Guinea's entry into a new phase where the State becomes a direct actor in the exploitation and marketing of its mineral resources.
Conakry's medium-term ambition is to process this bauxite locally. "One day we will end up processing aluminum on Guinean soil...thanks to the ambition of the Head of State, General Mamadi Doumbouya," declared Djiba Diakité, Minister and Chief of Staff to the President.
He also reiterated that "the President of the Republic has high expectations." He urged that the implementation of the agreement must be accelerated, commitments made honored, and results produced that match the country's ambitions.
It should be noted that Mamadi Doumbouya is currently outside the national territory.
