Fake police officers and gendarmes in Mbour: the Saly brigade arrests three criminals, including a gang leader who was posing as a victim.

The Saly Research Brigade (BR), under the Mbour Gendarmerie Company, brought an end on August 20, 2026, to the alleged activities of two men suspected of criminal conspiracy, impersonating a police officer, and nighttime theft using a vehicle. This arrest completes a case opened a few days earlier with the apprehension of a third suspect, revealing a scenario resembling a settling of scores between two rival gangs.

Those implicated

The first suspect arrested is K. Diallo, a pool maintenance worker residing in Nguékhokh. The second suspect, T. Diallo, 25 years old, works as a driver and lives in Saly. These two men join SA Seck in the investigation, who had already been arrested for the same offenses.

On the night of August 17-18, 2026, according to information gathered by investigators, T. DIALLO and K. DIALLO allegedly placed a drug order with a man named K. Their intention was clear: once the merchandise was delivered, they would impersonate gendarmes or police officers in order to seize it, while threatening their interlocutor with arrest if he did not pay money.

But supplier K., apparently sensing a trap or harboring similar intentions himself, reportedly went to the meeting place accompanied by a group of individuals, including SA SECK. Once there, it was ultimately the gang led by SA SECK who took the initiative, attacking first. The assailants, armed with clubs and spiked bars, allegedly beat their opponents severely before seizing their cell phones and fleeing.

Continuing their investigations, the gendarmes of the BR of Saly finally proceeded, on August 20, 2026, to arrest T. DIALLO and K. DIALLO.

The twist in the investigation: a "victim" who was actually a gang leader

One of the most striking elements of this case lies in the profile of T. DIALLO. Initially presented in the investigation as a victim of the attack that occurred on the night of August 17-18, he has in reality turned out, according to the investigation, to be a true gang leader active in the area for some time.

The investigation has indeed established that he is the subject of a wanted and arrest warrant issued by the Somone gendarmerie brigade in a completely unrelated case. This case concerns the arrest of OD, also known as ON, and MY, both charged with conspiracy and armed robbery committed at night. The case involves a loss of 7,145,000 CFA francs and a Jakarta-type motorcycle, stolen from FM, a resident of Nguérigne. However, T. Diallo had managed to escape during this previous case.

The search carried out at his home also led to the discovery of a composite arsenal, including 70 caliber ammunition, machetes, knives as well as "nail-catchers".

Two distinct modus operandi, the same playing field

The gang of T. Diallo and K. Diallo favored impersonation as a tool for extortion. Their method consisted of ordering illicit goods, specifically drugs, and then, upon delivery, posing as law enforcement officers. The objective was not to consume the product, but rather to intimidate the supplier, who was ordered to pay under threat of arrest. This same group is also suspected of involvement in a previous armed robbery, marked by the use of a firearm and a substantial haul.

SA SECK's gang, for its part, relied on swift and direct violence. Unlike the first group, which favored cunning and verbal intimidation, this gang opted for a brutal and direct approach, consisting of showing up in large numbers, striking first with blunt weapons such as clubs and spiked bars to neutralize the adversary, then quickly stealing valuables, in this case mobile phones, before fleeing without giving their victims time to react, according to Seneweb sources close to the court.

At the end of the investigation, the three suspects arrested, namely K. DIALLO, T. DIALLO and SA SECK, were presented to the prosecutor Augustin Yakhar Faye, head of the prosecutor's office of the Mbour High Court, for association of criminals, usurpation of function and theft at night with means of transport.
