Guinée Bissau : Ce que le Premier ministre avait promis à la sélection U17 avant qu’elle ne soit disqualifiée du tournoi UFOA-A
The disqualification of Guinea-Bissau's U17 team from the WAFU-A tournament is sure to cause resentment at the highest levels of government. Indeed, just a week ago, the Prime Minister of the transitional government, Ilidio Vieira Té, received the team and its coaching staff at the Prime Minister's office.
The promise
He expressed his best wishes for their success, urging them to fight to defend the national colors, while adopting exemplary conduct.
"A good result does honour to the country, but dignified behaviour, on and off the field, enhances and confers additional prestige on Guinea Bissau," the authority had declared, promising them a handsome sum of 150 million FCFA in the event of a final victory.
Ultimately, these young people will not participate in the tournament. Indeed, after MRI tests intended to verify their age, it was found that 10 of them were over 17 years old.
