Kidira : Cinq suspects déférés au parquet de Tambacounda pour cambriolage, vol de moutons et abattage clandestin
Kidira: Five suspects brought before the Tambacounda prosecutor's office for burglary, sheep theft, and illegal slaughter.
The Kidira territorial brigade brought five men before Prosecutor Aliou Dia, head of the Tambacounda High Court prosecutor's office, in three separate cases. Seneweb provides the details.
The burglary of SK Mbacké's store
On the night of October 7-8, 2026, around midnight, SK MbackéB's store, located at the main intersection in Kidira, was burglarized. According to the victim, an individual broke into his business by climbing the building. He then went to the counter and stole 6,745,000 CFA francs in banknotes.
Investigators reviewed the security camera footage. It shows a man wearing a black jacket with the Real Madrid logo, camouflage trousers, and a cap, in order to avoid being identified. Armed with bolt cutters, he is filmed in mid-air. He has been identified as H. Ndiaye, a night watchman at the same store.
A search of his home uncovered clothing matching the images. Confronted with the evidence, H. Ndiaye was arrested by the Kidira territorial gendarmerie after being informed of his rights. He is believed to have acted with the complicity of his Malian colleague, O. Traoré, also a security guard at the shop, who was acting as a lookout. Traoré was subsequently arrested as well.
According to the modus operandi described by investigators, H. Ndiaye allegedly broke down the stairwell door, used an unprotected ventilation shaft to access the counter, and then broke the safe lock. The charges relate to a nighttime burglary against their employer.
The clandestine slaughter of a goat in the Plateau district
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, around 11:00 a.m., S. Ndiaye, approximately 23 years old and homeless, reportedly went to the Plateau neighborhood, near the health center. There, he allegedly stole a brown and white goat before clandestinely slaughtering it by slitting its throat. Surprised by local residents, he was apprehended and taken to the gendarmerie. A search of his backpack yielded a national identity card, a Wave card, a Woyofal electricity card, and a passport photo. All these documents were issued in the name of I. Diallo, a resident of the village of Ouro Himadou, whom the suspect claimed to be the owner of.
When questioned, he stated that he had stolen and slaughtered the animal to sell the meat to the first customer who came along in order to obtain money. The goat's carcass and the coins were returned to their respective owners, F. Ba and I. Diallo. He was taken into custody the same day for vagrancy, identity theft, theft of a goat, and illegal slaughter.
The theft of two sheep in Ouro Thierno
On the afternoon of October 8, 2026, two shepherds, M. Diao and S. Diallo, allegedly plotted to steal two sheep from their employer H. Dembélé's flock. M. Diao was to sell the animals at the livestock market in the village of Ouro Thierno. He is 25 years old, and S. Diallo is 18. They live in Diboly, Mali. For the past six years, they have been tending H. Dembélé's sheep flock, first in the village of Bousra, and then in Diboly, where they moved with the animals as the rainy season approached.
Mr. Diao loaded the two sheep into a dugout canoe and crossed the Falémé River to reach Ouro Himadou, paying 500 CFA francs. He then took National Route 2 and a public transport vehicle to his destination. Once there, he quickly found a buyer to whom he offered to sell the animals at a very low price before making his escape.
Suspicious, the buyer alerted his companions, who detained the seller and demanded he explain the animals' origin. Feeling cornered, Mr. Diao called his accomplice, who came to his aid. The two men were then apprehended and handed over to the village chief. Confronted with the evidence, they confessed. H. Dembélé, summoned by the village chief, identified his two sheep.
Having been informed, the police took the two men to the station where they both claimed to have stolen due to lack of money, despite each earning 40,000 CFA francs per month and being fully fed by their employer. They were taken into custody on October 8, 2026, at 11:00 PM for theft as a group, involving the theft of two sheep from their employer.
