L'Algérie offre 1,6 million de litres de carburant au Niger
Niger received approximately fifty tanker trucks carrying 1.6 million liters of fuel in Agadez on Sunday, November 1st. This significant quantity of hydrocarbons originated from the Sbaa refinery in the Adrar province (southwest Algeria).
Consequence of a global crisis marked by conflicts
The ceremony for receiving these tanker trucks took place at the fuel depot in the Agadez region, in the presence of the Nigerien Minister of Petroleum Amadou Tini, the Algerian Ambassador to Niamey Saadi Ahmed, the Governor of Agadez, Major General Boulama Issa Ibra and the Director General of the Nigerien Petroleum Products Company (Sonidep).
Minister Tini thanked Algeria for considering support for Niger, which is facing significant tensions regarding the supply of petroleum products. He noted, however, that this situation is a consequence of a global crisis marked by conflicts, disruptions to supply chains, and fluctuating prices.
"As soon as he learned of it, he decided to urgently send gasoline to Niger."
Speaking next, Ambassador Saadi revealed that the fuel shipment was expressly sent to Agadez on the orders of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, after learning that Niger was experiencing difficulties in obtaining fuel.
"As soon as he learned of it, he decided to urgently send gasoline to Niger without the Nigerien authorities requesting it," the diplomat said.
This diligence "testifies to the positive dynamic that characterizes Algerian-Nigerian relations," Mr. Saadi assured.
