Liga espagnole : des avions en papier provoquent l’arrêt du match entre le Rayo Vallecano et l’Athletic Bilbao !
The match between Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao was interrupted after unusual incidents in the stands. Supporters of the Madrid club threw paper airplanes containing plastic balls onto the pitch, provoking the referee's anger and forcing the players to return to the dressing rooms.
Despite an initial interruption and a warning from referee Sánchez Martínez, projectiles continued to rain down on the field. Faced with the repeated incidents, the official finally decided to suspend the match, in accordance with his warning: any further throwing would result in an indefinite stoppage of play.
Behind these disturbances also lies a protest movement against the president of Rayo Vallecano. Some supporters are openly demanding his departure, even if it means seeing their team sanctioned.
"It's a complete disaster. They can offer us victory, but this is the only way to show that we want this man to leave the club," explained one supporter, illustrating the determination of the protesters.
In a last-ditch attempt to defuse the situation, Rayo's captains tried to speak with the fans in the south stand. However, this did not prevent the match from being abandoned for the evening.
For its part, LALIGA firmly condemned these actions, denouncing behaviors that compromise security and prevent the normal course of a competition.
The new date and time for the resumption of the match between Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao will be communicated later by the Spanish league authorities.
