L'Union africaine appelle à la retenue après des frappes à la frontière Tchad-Soudan
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, expressed his concern following the reported airstrikes on August 20, 2026 in the Ennedi-East province of Chad, in connection with the Sudanese conflict.
He reiterated the AU's commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of member states. He also called on all parties to avoid any actions that could escalate tensions.
The AU encourages the strengthening of regional dialogue and cooperation in order to prevent cross-border incidents and avoid an extension of the Sudanese conflict.
The Commission says it is ready to support efforts to de-escalate and maintain regional stability.
