Mbour : un ambulancier parmi les cinq suspects arrêtés pour le vol du véhicule des Missionnaires du Sacré-Cœur, vendu sur Facebook
It was on the night of July 20, 2026, around 11:00 PM, that A. Diop was the victim of the theft of his Toyota Hilux, a vehicle belonging to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. That night, an individual broke into his home and managed to start the vehicle before fleeing, leaving the complainant helpless in the face of the sudden loss of his property.
An investigation was immediately launched by the Saly Research Brigade, under the Mbour Gendarmerie Company, to recover the vehicle and identify the perpetrators of the theft. The investigators' work quickly yielded results, leading to the arrest of a first suspect: K. Cissé, a 36-year-old car salesman residing in Malika. He had posted an advertisement on Facebook offering the stolen vehicle for sale.
When questioned about the vehicle's origin and the source of the photographs used in his advertisement, K. Cissé explained that they had been sent to him by a certain K. Seck, 43 years old, an ambulance driver in the Pout health district. Seck was subsequently arrested and questioned by the gendarmes.
During his hearing, he implicated C. Mbow, aged 36, a mechanic living in Thiès, in the Mbambara district, identifying him as the person who had sent him the photos of the vehicle for sale.
When questioned, C. Mbow stated that the vehicle had been offered to him by a certain PM Thiam. He further specified that, through Mr. Ndiaye, a 46-year-old driver, the vehicle had ultimately been sold to A. Diop, a 53-year-old merchant.
In view of these consistent statements and the evidence gathered throughout the investigation, five people were finally taken into custody at the Saly Research Brigade on August 22, 2026, for the purposes of the procedure.
They are K. Seck, a 43-year-old ambulance driver; M. Ndiaye, a 46-year-old driver; C. Mbow, a 36-year-old mechanic residing in Thiès; A. Diop, a 53-year-old shopkeeper; and K. Cissé, a 36-year-old car salesman residing in Malika. All are being prosecuted for conspiracy, theft, complicity in theft committed at night, and receiving stolen goods (a vehicle), according to Seneweb sources close to the court.
As for PM Thiam, who resides in Thiès and is currently unreachable, he is the subject of an active search by the gendarmerie due to his alleged involvement in this case. The stolen vehicle, meanwhile, has been impounded by investigators.
At the end of this investigation, all the arrested suspects were brought before Prosecutor Augustin Yakhar Faye, head of the prosecutor's office at the High Court of Mbour, who will now decide on the next steps in the procedure.
