Nigéria : La veuve de l’ex-Président élu MKO Abiola veut briguer le poste de Secrétaire général des Nations Unies
She sees herself as the next UN Secretary-General. Nigerian Akasoba Zainab Duke-Abiola has accepted the nomination for the United Nations' most prestigious position. An international lawyer, governance specialist, and security expert, Duke-Abiola boasts extensive experience in international law, diplomacy, governance, peace and security, development, and public administration.
Supported by the African Policy and Research Consortium (APRC)
Her candidacy is supported by the African Policy and Research Consortium (APRC), a pan-African research and public policy network active in more than 20 African countries and linking academics, policymakers, research institutions, development actors and international partners across Africa and beyond.
However, the 65-year-old Nigerian woman lacks the official support of her country. Indeed, according to UN regulations, nominations are submitted by member states.
Note that Duke Abiola is the widow of Moshood Kashimawo Abiola (MKO), a Nigerian politician declared the winner of the presidential election of June 12, 1993 in Nigeria.
