[PORTRAIT] De la tempête médiatique au succès entrepreneurial : La renaissance de Mourzane à Dakar
Initially known by the pseudonym "Pierre Précieuse" (Precious Stone), she now goes by her real name: Mourzane. Living in Senegal, where she was driven by a dream, Mourzane Ousmanou, her legal name, was nonetheless violently confronted by a wave of online hatred fueled by serious accusations. In just a few clicks, she was criticized, judged, and exposed. However, to focus solely on the label of "influencer" would be to miss the point entirely. Having settled in Dakar in 2022, the young woman of Cameroonian origin has chosen to reclaim control of her narrative.
Behind the content creation and the controversies lies a tenacious entrepreneur, a seasoned communicator, and the founder of a pan-African agency that now employs people in Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon. Between ambition, hardship, and rebirth, this is the portrait of a woman who refuses to let a rumor define her entire life and who wishes to convey only one message: "Mourzane built."
A path built on rigor
Her success is no fluke. Guided by a father who was particularly demanding when it came to education, Mourzane first laid her academic foundations in Cameroon: two years at business school to master accounting, finance, human resources, and marketing, followed by a bachelor's degree in digital marketing and a Master's degree in digital technologies at a French university. Her ambition has always been clear: to create her own company.
"I wanted to understand the technology so I could work with developers and participate in projects myself," she says.
It was during her first year of her Master's degree that she launched her first company. To complete her second year, she left Douala and moved to Dakar. At a young age, she discovered independent living, far from her family home. While the beginnings were challenging, the Senegalese capital quickly offered her new opportunities: a strong network, a fertile ground for entrepreneurship, and the space she needed to thrive.
48 hours to turn everything around
Then came the storm. Three years ago, his name suddenly surfaced on a Cameroonian gossip page : accusations of pimping, rumors spread about his health (HIV/AIDS), and death threats. While it all started with anonymous allegations, these attacks were amplified by several accounts and media outlets.
"My first reaction was incomprehension. I thought to myself: but that's wrong," she repeats.
At that time, she had only just arrived in Senegal. She explains that she was only mentioned in this case because she had been in contact with someone close to the accused.
"Psychologically, it was very violent," the young woman confides.
Today, with Olympian calm, she recounts the facts: no legal proceedings or complaints have ever been brought against her. On the contrary, she initiated legal action to protect her safety and privacy. Faced with the onslaught, she initially chose to speak out and provide evidence of her innocence via Seneweb , before retreating into silence to rebuild her life.
What saved her? Everyday life: classes, her classmates and the teachers at her Senegalese school, whose gaze remained kind and unchanged.
"Some people barely knew me and wrote to me: 'Are you okay? Did you get home safely?'" she says.
Simple but crucial gestures at that precise moment.
"School became a place where I could simply be Mourzane, a student, without having to justify myself."
She then makes a radical decision: if she ever gives up everything, she lets the controversy govern her life. She therefore chooses to persevere and build her future.
From "Precious Stone" to the authenticity of Mourzane
The link between her identities is direct, as the pseudonym derives from the etymology of her first name. Mourzane comes from Morjane , which means "coral" in Arabic. In her teens, like many young people of her generation, she adopted this pseudonym to create a world for herself online.
Now 27 years old, she has definitively turned the page. "Pierre Précieuse" is part of her story, but she now signs only with her first name, Mourzane. She refuses to be reduced to a childhood pseudonym and fully embraces the woman, entrepreneur, and designer she has become.
Building to inspire
At the helm of her digital marketing agency, Andal Créative, the young Cameroonian now relies on teams based in Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon, supporting both local and international companies. In parallel, Mourzane is developing the technological side of the business, including web solutions and digital services.
"What gives me strength is seeing that my work allows other young people to build their careers and help their families," the business owner rejoices.
Influence? She continues to embrace it, but now approaches it as a simple lever: "If I close Instagram tomorrow, I want to be able to continue to live off what I have built."
Her advice to young women is direct: educate yourselves, create your own opportunities and don't be ashamed of your ambition.
When asked how she would like to be talked about in a year, her answer comes quickly: "As a woman who has built something. Not as the daughter of a controversy."
Dakar was the scene of her rebirth, while Cameroon remains her family home, where she visits regularly. And the future?
"I will go where there are opportunities!"
Mourzane refuses to let her story be written by rumors. She intends to sign it with her achievements: to write a real chapter, and not be reduced to a headline in the news.
