RDC : Constant Mutamba condamné à 10 ans de travaux forcés
The verdict has finally been delivered. After several postponements, the Court of Cassation in Kinshasa issued its ruling this Friday, September 18, in the FRIVAO case involving the former Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Constant Mutamba.
According to reports from the media outlet Actualite.cd, Constant Mutamba was sentenced to ten years of forced labor. His co-defendant, Chançard Bolukola, former interim coordinator of the Fund for Reparation and Compensation of Victims of Ugandan Illicit Activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (FRIVAO), received a seven-year sentence of forced labor.
The two convicts also received several additional penalties. In particular, they were deprived of their voting and eligibility rights for five years, excluded from all public functions, and stripped of their right to rehabilitation.
They were convicted in a case involving the embezzlement of $20 million intended to compensate victims of Uganda's illicit activities in the DRC.
