Santé de Paul Biya : comment le président camerounais a été remis sur pied
Paul Biya finally returned to Cameroon on August 20, attempting to silence rumors about his health. Jeune Afrique reveals how a double intervention, in Switzerland and India, enabled his recovery.
Rumors had circulated that he was dead or confined to a wheelchair, but President Paul Biya appeared on Saturday, August 22, standing upright. While his gait wasn't brisk and he still needed assistance—off-camera—to walk, he was able to stand, read a short speech, and pose with the national women's football team , which had just won the Africa Cup of Nations. According to our sources, this victory was partly due to support from Switzerland, but also from India.
The head of state underwent orthopedic knee surgery performed by a team of Swiss specialists at a Geneva clinic. However, the Cameroonian president also owes his rapid recovery to the intervention of Indian doctors, called in to assist and complement the Swiss medical care. This is despite the fact that the Cameroonian presidency has consistently refused to confirm any hospitalization of the head of state.
The Indian medical team arrived in Switzerland aboard a private plane carrying medical equipment to provide additional treatment. According to our sources, the team from Mumbai had to overcome the reluctance of the authorities in Maharashtra (a state in western India), who would have preferred the patient to travel there himself to receive treatment. Faced with the risks of a long journey for a patient who had recently undergone surgery, the Indians eventually relented. However, the nature of the treatment provided by the Indian team remains a mystery.
India prides itself on its technological and biomedical advancements in orthopedics. Its clinics boast of their ability to robotically implant personalized joint prostheses, notably through the use of 3D printing. These procedures are claimed by the Indians to be less invasive and faster, shortening recovery time. India also practices stem cell therapies, which Switzerland is more receptive to than the European Union, of which it is not a member.

Dites à ce vieux dictateur de cesser lui même d’être ridicule et de rendre son pays ridicule.
