Une « arrière-grand-mère de 101 ans » arrêtée pour vente de cannabis au Nigeria
An elderly woman, believed by authorities to be 101 years old, has been arrested in Nigeria for allegedly selling cannabis, in a case that has attracted considerable interest.
Esther Ogunmabo, described as a great-grandmother, was arrested on Saturday in Ogun State, in the southwest of the country, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced.
Femi Babafemi, the agency's communications director, said the centenarian was found in possession of "bags intended for retail sale of skunk, a variety of cannabis weighing 90 grams, which she claims to sell to residents of the neighborhood."
The NDLEA stated that the suspect told investigators she turned to drug trafficking after her grocery store was destroyed by fire. She was released on bail and is receiving psychological support due to her advanced age.
