Blocage du projet : AEE Power défend Jean-Michel Sène et renvoie la balle à...
Continuing his explanation on Walf TV, José Ángel González Tausz attributed the construction delays to the year-and-a-half suspension ordered by Arcop, a decision deemed "illegitimate" by the Supreme Court. He also defended Jean-Michel Sène, the director general of ASER, whom he exonerated from any responsibility for the project's stall. "Jean-Michel, the director of ASER, my client, arrived a year after the contract began," he pointed out, emphasizing that the agreement had been signed well before the current director general took office, under the previous administration.
Asserting that his company's contractual obligations have been "100% fulfilled so far" and that it has already committed "more than $40 million" (approximately 24 billion FCFA) to its suppliers, the head of AEE Power EPC believes that the question of the availability of the remaining funds must therefore be put to the Senegalese authorities: "Where are the 84 million euros that nobody is asking for?", he asks, which is more than 55 billion FCFA.
When questioned about AEE Power's ability to continue the project, José Ángel González Tausz asserted that his group has the necessary resources to resume work. "We have the financial means, we also have the technical means to do it," he stated. According to him, the uncertainty now lies in the Senegalese government's ability to mobilize the necessary funding to complete the project. "The question today is whether the Senegalese government has the financial means to finish it. Whether it has the funding available to complete this project," he explained. While stating his willingness to take risks to move the work forward, he cautioned: "The government must fulfill its obligations."
He therefore expects the government to give ASER the "sufficient administrative, legal and financial" means to validate the pending invoices and "restart the project".
