The levels of the Senegal River are showing a slow rise this Tuesday at the majority of measuring stations, but they are significantly behind schedule compared to the year 2025, according to the bulletin of the Water Resources Brigade of Saint-Louis.
At Bakel, the point where the river enters Senegal, the water level is at 5.34 m, up 10 cm in 24 hours. However, it is 3.98 m below the level recorded on the same date in 2025, which was 9.32 m. The alert level of 10 m remains well below this target. At Matam, the level has reached 4.64 m, 1 cm higher than on Monday and 2.73 m lower than the 2025 level (7.37 m). The alert level there is set at 8 m.
At Podor, the only station showing a decline, the river level has fallen by 2 cm to 3.44 m, compared to the projected 3.90 m in 2025. The alert level there is 5 m. At Richard-Toll, the level is 2.83 m, a slight increase of 1 cm. Unlike the other stations, it is 11 cm above the projected 2025 level of 2.72 m.
