Météo : orages isolés attendus cet après-midi, fortes chaleurs persistantes sur le pays
The National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) has issued a very short-term forecast, valid from Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 12:00 to Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 12:00.
According to this bulletin, partly cloudy weather is expected this afternoon and evening across much of the country. "However, isolated thunderstorms could occur in places in the Louga and Thiès regions, as well as in the south-central part of the country," it reads.
Overnight and into Sunday morning, rain and thunderstorms are expected in the eastern part of the country, particularly in Matam, Tambacounda and Kédougou, with risks of spreading to Linguère, Podor, Kolda and Sédhiou.
What about temperatures? Anacim indicates that the heat should persist, particularly in the interior of the country, where daily maximums will range between 35 and 39°C.
In addition, meteorological services report generally good visibility across the territory, as well as south-westerly winds of low to moderate intensity.
