« Il me donne 10 000 FCFA par mois et me bat » : une mère brise le silence sur le calvaire que lui inflige son fils
The Mbour District Court on Thursday tried A. Thioune, 21, a municipal agent and security guard, who was prosecuted for violence and insults against his mother, B. Sall, reports L'Observateur.
According to the newspaper, the incident occurred on the eve of Tabaski when the defendant flew into a violent rage against his mother because lunch was late. He insulted her and punched her before neighbors intervened and pulled the victim from her son's grasp.
The newspaper from the Future Media Group adds that the mother gave a poignant testimony in court, describing a daily ordeal marked by years of abuse. She stated that her son, despite being employed, only gives her 10,000 FCFA per month for expenses, spending the rest of his income on alcohol and drugs.
Acknowledging the facts, the same source indicates, the defendant attempted to justify his behavior by citing his drug addiction, an argument that convinced neither the judge nor the prosecutor. Placed in pretrial detention, A. Thioune will learn his fate on July 2nd, the date of the verdict.
