Pikine : la filière américaine démantelée, un jeune de 22 ans arrêté
The National Brigade for the Fight Against Piracy and Counterfeiting (BNIPC), in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (ARP), dismantled yesterday in Pikine an illicit sales network for health products operated from a shop called "Manhattan Boutique".
According to Libération, which reported the story, the operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit goods, including medications such as anti-inflammatories, analgesics, and laxatives, as well as dietary supplements and cosmetic products subject to strict regulations. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at approximately 35 million CFA francs by the ARP (Association of the Representatives of the People).
The shop manager, 22-year-old D. Guèye, who presented himself as a merchant, was arrested at the scene. During his initial questioning, he stated that the products were shipped to him from the United States by his father, a version of events that remains to be verified as part of the investigation.
The suspect was taken to the BNIPC headquarters, pending instructions from the prosecutor's office.
