Saly-Portudal : un conducteur fonce sur des policiers, 23 kg de drogue sont quand même saisis
The Saly-Portudal police station, under the command of Commissioner Oumar Mbaye, made another significant bust in the criminal underworld with the seizure of 23 kilograms of cannabis. The operation could have ended badly, as the driver deliberately drove at the officers before fleeing the scene.
The events date back to Sunday, March 15, 2026, at around 11:30 a.m. As part of a special operation to check helmet use, ordered by the Director of Public Security (DSP), members of the special brigade of the urban police station of Saly-Portudal set up a checkpoint at the Saly intersection.
A motorcyclist and his passenger, both without helmets, were ordered to stop. Unexpectedly, the two individuals refused to comply and drove straight at the officers.
In their attempt to flee, they lost their balance and fell. They immediately got up, abandoned their motorcycle on the spot and fled on foot through the sandy alleys of the Saly crossroads, leaving behind a travel bag.
A chase ensued, but the suspects could not be caught.
23 kilograms of Indian hemp seized
The officers recovered the bag abandoned by the fugitives. Upon opening it, they discovered seventeen blocks of Indian hemp.
A search of the motorcycle uncovered six more packages, hidden in the seat, bringing the total to 23 kilograms of cannabis, according to Seneweb sources. The drugs were seized and the motorcycle impounded at the police station for the purposes of the investigation.
The Public Prosecutor at the Mbour High Court has been informed. An active search is underway to apprehend the suspects who are still at large.
